Assisted Fluid Management Software Guidance for Intraoperative Fluid Administration

چکیده

Background Excessive or inadequate fluid administration causes complications, but despite this, during noncardiac surgery is highly variable. Goal-directed management helps optimize the amount and timing of administration; however, implementation difficult because algorithms are complex. The authors therefore tested performance Acumen Assisted Fluid Management software (Edwards Lifesciences, USA), which designed to guide optimal intravenous surgery. Methods In this multicenter, prospective, single-arm cohort evaluation, enrolled 330 adults scheduled for moderate- high-risk that required arterial catheter insertion mechanical ventilation. Clinicians chose a strategy based on desired 10%, 15%, 20% increase in stroke volume (SV) response bolus. Influence of "liberal" versus "restrictive" intraoperative fluid administration on elimination of a postoperative fluid load.

BACKGROUND Previously, the authors found "liberal" fluid administration (approximately 3 l Ringer's lactate [RL]) to improve early rehabilitation after laparoscopic cholecystectomy, suggesting functional hypovolemia to be present in patients receiving "restrictive" fluid administration (approximately 1 l RL). Because volume kinetic analysis after a volume load may distinguish between hypovolemi...

Does restrictive intraoperative fluid management alter outcome after intraabdominal surgery?

To the Editor:—I read with great interest the recent article by Nisanevich et al. suggesting that restricted fluid therapy for intraabdominal surgery reduces postoperative morbidity. My comments focus on the description of the statistical methods and their application to the data. The authors mention the use of both the chi-square test and Fisher exact test for the analysis of categorical data....

Goal-directed therapy in intraoperative fluid and hemodynamic management

Intraoperative fluid management is pivotal to the outcome and success of surgery, especially in high-risk procedures. Empirical formula and invasive static monitoring have been traditionally used to guide intraoperative fluid management and assess volume status. With the awareness of the potential complications of invasive procedures and the poor reliability of these methods as indicators of vo...

Impact of intraoperative fluid administration on outcome in patients undergoing robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy – a retrospective analysis

BACKGROUND Robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) gained much popularity during the last decade. Although the influence of intraoperative fluid management on patients' outcome has been largely discussed in general, its impact on perioperative complications and length of hospitalization in patients undergoing RALP has not been examined so far. We hypothesized that a more restrictive ...
